What are your opinions on the game Grand Theft Auto?

As a mother I am disgusted. We cant let game developers corrupt our children by promoting murder and crime. The people at Activision have really taken this too far with the Grand Theft Auto game. We cant let there be a Grand Theft Auto 2.



My 17 year old son just sits on the couch all day during the weekend with his friends killing virtual people and stealing virtual cars.



We need more games like Wii Music and Donkey Kong. Ive went to all my sons soccer games since he was 6 and now I have to watch him grow up playing these horrible games.What are your opinions on the game Grand Theft Auto?
LMAO, get with the times, there is already Grand Theft auto 2 and 3.



As a mother myself, I am disgusted that other parents need to blame the developers. You ALLOW your son to have a game system, you allow him to buy games for it, therefore it is YOUR responsibility to make sure your son isn't doing anything you don't want him too.



Quit blaming the media for your OWN mistakes in parenting.
I have no clue because I never played it and my brother played it once before, he's ten, and it looks like complete garbage [well I am a fifteen year old girl so that factors into it].

My husband play it. There's more than a Grand Theft Auto, I think there's 3 or 4. And as long as my kids aren't playing it, I don't really care. It's rated M for Mature for a reason. If someone goes out and copies the game, they aren't mature enough to play it to begin with. Besides, better virtual people and cars than real ones, right?
No opinion. If a child cannot tell the difference between the real world and a game, there is a huge problem - and it's not with the game.



You are the parent. If you don't want your son sitting on the couch all day playing games, limit his play time. Simple as that. And games have ratings on them. I agree with "Blue Eyes" once you allow your child to have a video game in the house it's up to you to monitor what games come in and out of your home, your the parent you set the rules, just like you should be monitoring who your child's friends are and what they watch on TV, they can only do what you allow them do do......also video games have a parental advisory notice for a reason!!!
Those games are rated M for mature for a reason.

Why buy them or allow it in your home if it's so disgusting?



Unfortunately the video game market seems to cater to this kind of trash games because it's what teenagers seem to want and think is cool. Since they make up a good percentage of what gets created and sold it's going to be hard to stop unless you can convince single handedly every teenager in America to stop buying those kinds of games- which I don't think is going to happen. The best line of defense is at your front door. Don't allow it in your home. You're the parent here, not your son.
As the parent its your choice what you let your children do if he;s playing it all day your letting him. It is not the gaming industry to blame. It's you. Sorry

Don't blame the manufactureres, blame the people who buy them. Like, i dunno, YOU perhaps? You bought the game, i assume, or at least were aware of it.



As for needing more games like Wii Music, etc, how about just encouraging him to go outside? My older 2 sons play games but also play outside and the 12yr old also plays the guitar (thats real music, not computer music...)



Don't blame someone else for something you can control.
If you don't like the game don't let him play it. My brother plays it and he's a really sweet kid, he just likes the game. He is not 'corrupt' in any way. He's almost finished school and Mum has brought him up not to want to sit on the couch and play it all day, he does other things like goes to the beach and skating and he plays the guitar.



They've already made GTA 4 + 2 that aren't numbered.

There's also Saints Row and Saints Row2 which are basically the same.
I also disagree with the game. I find it to be a disgrace. However, if he is playing the game in your home he must have gotten it from somewhere, weather you purchased it for him or he bought it himself. I think once the child is old enough to purchase the game then obviously he should be allowed to play it. Or a different approach to the situation would be to say it is your house where you pay the bills so tell your child that he is not allow those types of games in your home. Once he has his own place he can play them as much as he wants..

Weeks later Brandon's body was found in a wooded area. He died all alone and scared after falling from a tree he had climbed, trying to find his way back home.

This is so tragic.

I don't like it at all. My husband plays it all the time-and the language and the fact that you can get a virtual prostitute is disgusting!
